Parcours : Precision Health
Advances in biology, technology and information technology make it possible today, notably by analyzing big data (patient characteristics, 'omics', social and environmental data), to refine the nosography frameworks by identifying more homogeneous groups of patients whose management would be personalized, with the aim of improving the benefit/risk ratio. If this precision medicine is a topical subject, few health professionals are trained in it and few of the non-medical disciplines, which must participate in its development through research, have the necessary specific knowledge.
The aim of the "Precision Health" program is therefore to provide integrated training on these issues, open to students from different disciplinary backgrounds, by combining a balance between medical/biological questions and the other disciplines necessary for understanding and taking on the challenges of precision health. It will be based on examples taken from the hot topics in health sciences regarding different types of chronic diseases, which justify a long-term precision approach, from screening to prevention of complications.
Unités d'enseignements
Semestre 1
The aim of this teaching is to provide the fundamental concepts of precision health, an innovative multidisciplinary and integrated approach of health from the pathophysiological mechanisms to personalized patient care, integrating the innovative start-of-the-art biological and technical developments. Application examples will be given from the key thematic disciplinary fields of research (cancer, diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases, neurologic diseases, infection/immuno/inflammation), justifying a precise approach over the long term, from screening to prevention of complications.

Compulsory training unit
View of the program
Training is organized in the form of 10 teaching units of 6 hours each. Each unit takes the form of a seminar on a specific topic, including conferences and mini-symposium with an active involvement of the students. Attending all of the proposed seminars is compulsory.

During the “Study Lab” unit, students will design an innovative research proposal focused on their M2 internship research topic. The student will define a clear research question and elaborate a forward-thinking experimental plan including some of the approaches developed in seminars of “Current Concepts in Precision Health”. The “Study Lab” unit favours active learning strategies based on small group discussions with peers and experienced tutors. Overall, this unit offers the unique opportunity to practice scientific design, writing and presentation, all essential for scientific careers in biological research.

|
Enseignement à choix : 2 enseignements constitutifs (1 choix parmi 2)

Semestre 2
The purpose of this teaching unit is to implement an experimental approach allowing the design and implementation of a project in the field of precision health. This period of professional experience will take place in one of the research units belonging to the University of Lille or to another institution in France or abroad. The internship will be supervised by a professional supervisor, affiliated with the host research unit.
